Today was a very quiet day. Since all the real has already been doing, designing the challenges and testing the challenges we could afford to work at a slower pace. The day was very laid back, the first thing we did was check in with all the groups and make sure the invitations our "Save the Date" department painstakingly made were actually being used (sent out to real people instead of languishing in a google drive somewhere). After that we double checked that everything we needed was ready (the tests were designed), leaving only one real objective left on the agenda. Testing out the engineering challenge! This year's challenge involves water and boats, the water portion alone making the project far more interesting and fun. The gist of the competition is every team starts with 50 points, there points are used to purchase the materials used for the boat, with these materials the teams have 30 mins to make the best boat that is capable of going across the pool, and upon reaching the end of the pool has to carry the most weight. For our competition Calvin and Michelle won by far, and the other two teams managed to get across the pool but weren't able to carry any weight. Although, we encountered significant challenges in the execution of the competition, because we didn't think of the system for how the boats would be qued and pulled across the pool it took nearly 3-4x more time than it should have.
